This concern for learning has led me to have an even greater concern for discerning truth, regardless of where it is found. At times, this has led me to experiment in my readings of different philosophic and religious texts, but I always come back to the Bible and the personhood of Jesus Christ as my bearings on truth. Truth is riddled and strewn about the world, about all people and religions, but, at the end of the day, I find that the only being that holds a monopoly on truth is the God of the Bible. I seek to understand Him through ascertaining truth and perfecting the image endowed to me by him in all that I do. I am by no means perfect, but faith is a process: justification through Christ, sanctification through the Spirit, and glorification through God.
Aside from my intellectual and spiritual pursuits, I also enjoy life whenever and wherever I am given the opportunity. I find my highest state of catharsis and invigoration in nature: if it can be done outside, I will give it a try. This passion has led me to hike and camp in varying capacities, but my favorite activity is to merely run or ski cross country. In crossing terrain by nothing other than my limited will and body, I have learned to test and push myself to my limits, heightening my awareness of self and other while maintaining some semblance of sanity.
My passions for nature and self-testing are often expressed in my choices in literature and writing. I have a tendency of staying up late, working to organize my thoughts through reading and writing, wrestling with trivial and profound matters alike. More specifically, however, I find great pleasure in reading works of modern and postmodern literature and writing in that style as well. Some of my favorite writers include Annie Dillard Cormac McCarthy, Gerard Manley Hopkins, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Fyodor Dostoevsky, but I am always open to something new. As far as personal writings go, I love practicing various poetic techniques and applying them to my own prose and poetry--both of which can be tasted in the various writings section.
With that, I leave you to figure the rest out through interaction. By that I hope to understand more about you, your perspective, and our position in humanity's development.
